If you are in Class 10 or Class 12, you have probably typed "cbse board exam 2027 date sheet" into Google more than once this month. Here is the honest answer as of 19 October 2026: CBSE has not released the 2027 date sheet yet. No official start date for the 2027 board exams has been announced either.

This post covers three things. First, what is officially confirmed and what is only expected. Second, how the two-exam system works for Class 10 and how Class 12 is different. Third, and most important, a revision plan you can start today, so that whatever dates come out, you are already prepared.

Is the CBSE date sheet 2027 out yet?

No. CBSE's website, cbse.gov.in, has no 2027 board exam date sheet so far. Right now the board is busy with the List of Candidates (LOC), the list of students each school sends to CBSE for the 2027 exams. CBSE's Reminder-5 dated 19.10.2026 to schools confirms that the last date for LOC submission with normal fee is 21 October 2026.

Why does this matter to you? Your name and subjects reach CBSE through the LOC. CBSE's LOC circular for 2026-27 says that only students whose names are submitted through this online process can appear for the 2027 boards. Once it is submitted, requests for subject changes are not considered. So this week, check with your class teacher that your name, date of birth and subjects are correct.

When could the date sheet come?

Nothing is official, but there are clues from last year:

  • For the 2026 exams, CBSE put out a tentative date sheet on 24 September 2025 and the final one on 30 October 2025. That was about 110 days before exams began on 17 February 2026, as reported by Gulf News.
  • The Careers360 live blog (last updated 14 October 2026) reports that the date sheet is expected after the LOC process ends, and that exams are expected from February 2027.

Treat any "subject-wise date sheet" you see on social media right now as a guess. In its July results press release, CBSE asked students not to rely on unverified social media posts and to trust only its official channels. The same rule applies to the date sheet.

How the two board exams work for Class 10

2027 will be the second year of two board exams for Class 10. Here is what CBSE's official documents say.

The first exam is compulsory. The LOC circular says the First Board Examination, held in February–March, is mandatory for every Class 10 student. The LOC for the second exam is filled only after the first exam is over.

The second exam is optional and limited. As per CBSE's notification dated 14.02.2026:

  • Students who pass can improve their performance in up to three subjects out of Science, Mathematics, Social Science and languages.
  • If you miss three or more subjects in the first exam, you cannot take the second exam. You go into the "Essential Repeat" category and appear next February.
  • Students who get a compartment in the first exam can take the second exam in the compartment category.

How it went in 2026. CBSE's press release of 18.07.2026 says the main exam ran from 17 February to 11 March 2026 and the second exam from 15 to 21 May 2026. The better of the two performances counts. Of the 5,13,955 students who took the second exam to improve, 3,08,095 (59.95%) did better.

That is encouraging. But do not plan on the second exam as your "real" attempt. You get only three subjects, the window is short, and it eats into your summer. Aim to do your best in February.

One more thing: CBSE's three-language press release clearly says students in Class 10 in 2026-27 continue with the old two-language system. No third language board exam for your batch.

What about Class 12 in 2027?

The two-exam scheme is only for Class 10. Class 12 has one main board exam, and the LOC circular calls it the Main Examination 2027.

Last year, Class 12 exams ran from 17 February to 9 April 2026, according to The Hitavada. The same report quotes CBSE saying it planned the dates around entrance exams. Careers360 reports a similar February–April window for 2027, but that is an estimate until CBSE publishes the schedule.

If you are asking "how many days left for CBSE board exam 2027 class 12", the honest answer is that nobody can give an exact count yet. If exams start in mid-February, as they did in 2026, you have roughly four months. Plan with that number.

Practicals come first

Practicals happen before theory. For the 2026 exams, practicals in regular schools started on 1 January 2026, and winter-bound schools held them from 6 November to 6 December 2025, as reported by Careers360. If 2027 follows the same pattern, your practical file, project and viva prep need to be ready by December.

Your revision plan: start now, don't wait for the date sheet

The date sheet only tells you the order of papers. It does not change your syllabus. Here is a month-by-month plan that works for both Class 10 and 12.

Timeline infographic showing a CBSE 2027 revision plan from October to May

October–November: NCERT first, line by line

  • Read every chapter of your NCERT textbooks once more, including in-text questions, examples and boxed points. Board papers lean heavily on NCERT.
  • Make one page of short notes per chapter: formulas, definitions, dates, diagrams.
  • Mark your three weakest chapters in each subject. These get extra time every week.

November–December: PYQs and the 2026-27 sample papers

  • CBSE has published the 2026-27 sample question papers and marking schemes for Class 10 and Class 12. Download them for your subjects. They show the current paper pattern.
  • Solve previous years' questions chapter by chapter, right after you revise that chapter. You will start seeing which topics come back again and again.
  • Read the marking scheme after each attempt. It shows exactly which keywords and steps get marks.

December–January: pre-boards and practicals

  • Treat your school pre-boards as a full rehearsal: same timing, same seat discipline, no phone.
  • After each pre-board, list every mistake under three heads: concept gap, silly error, or time ran out. Fix concept gaps first.
  • Finish practical files and project work early so they don't eat into revision time later.

January–February: timed full papers

  • Write at least one full sample paper a week per main subject in three hours, sitting at a table.
  • Revise from your own short notes, not the whole textbook.
  • Once the date sheet is out, plan your last-minute revision around the gaps between papers.

Small habits that help

  • Study in 45–50 minute blocks with short breaks. Two focused hours beat five distracted ones.
  • Keep a "mistakes notebook". Read it every Sunday.
  • Sleep 7–8 hours, especially in the last month. Late nights before exams usually hurt recall more than they help.

How SeekhoSmart helps with board exam revision

Until the date sheet comes out, the best thing you can do is steady, daily revision. That is what SeekhoSmart is built for. Its 10-year PYQ bank is tagged by chapter, so after you finish revising an NCERT chapter, you can practise exactly the board questions asked from it. When you get one wrong, the AI explains every answer, including why your option was wrong, so you fix the concept and not just the score. And an adaptive daily study plan builds each day's revision around your weak chapters, so you don't have to work out what to study every evening. You can switch between Hindi and English, and it is free to start.
