SeekhoSmart is used by students, parents, teachers and schools. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal data we collect from each of them, why, who can see it, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Services you agree to this policy and our Terms of Service.
1. Who we are
सीखोSMART (SeekhoSmart) is operated by SeekhoSmart. In, Haryana (“SeekhoSmart”, “we”, “us”). For personal data processed through our website (https://seekhosmart.in), web app (https://app.seekhosmart.in), and related WhatsApp and email communications (together, the “Services”), we act as the Data Fiduciary under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”).
When a school makes SeekhoSmart available to its teachers, students and families, the school decides who is enrolled and we process that data on the school’s behalf as described in our agreement with the school.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
| Who | What |
|---|---|
| Everyone | Name, email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash), preferred language, and your role (student, teacher, parent or school). |
| Students | Class, board, learning track (e.g. Class 10, NEET), goal, optional exam date, and classes joined. |
| Parents | The link to your child’s account, your relationship to them, your report preferences, and — if you choose WhatsApp reports — your mobile number. |
| Teachers | The classes you create, students you invite (their email addresses), and the tests and questions you create or edit. |
| Schools | School name, city, state, board, approximate size, contact phone, and lists of teachers and students (names, emails, class/section) you upload. |
| Demo & contact requests | Name, phone number, and optionally email, school/organisation, city, number of students and your message. |
Information created as you use SeekhoSmart
- Learning activity — topics completed, videos started, practice quizzes and class tests taken, answers, scores, time spent per question, streaks and weak-topic analysis.
- Reports — the progress summaries we generate for parents, and a record of when and how each report was delivered.
- Technical data — IP address, browser/device type and request logs, used for security, rate-limiting and troubleshooting.
Information from others
- Google Sign-In — if you choose “Continue with Google”, Google shares your name, email address, profile photo and a Google account identifier. We do not receive your Google password or access your Gmail, Drive or contacts.
- Your school or teacher — they may add your email to a class or school before you sign up, so you join it automatically.
- Campaign tags — if you reach our website from a link with UTM tags, we store those tags with any demo request you submit.
Cookies, local storage and advertising measurement
- Learning app (https://app.seekhosmart.in) — stores your sign-in token in your browser’s local storage. Google Sign-In uses one short-lived security cookie (deleted within 10 minutes). The app has no advertising cookies or ad trackers.
- Marketing website (https://seekhosmart.in, including the blog) — remembers in session storage whether you closed a pop-up, and uses the Google Ads tag (gtag.js). Google sets cookies and receives information such as the pages you visit, your IP address, browser/device details and the ad you clicked, so we can measure which of our ads lead to sign-ups and demo requests. Google may combine this with other information under its own policies.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser, and control how Google uses your data for ads at adssettings.google.com. See also how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
3. How we use your information
We use personal data only to run and improve the Services:
- Create and secure your account, and sign you in with email/password or Google.
- Show you the right experience for your role — a student dashboard, teacher workspace, parent view or school dashboard.
- Personalise learning: adapt question difficulty, find weak topics, build a daily study plan and track streaks.
- Let teachers create, assign and grade tests, and see class results and insights.
- Send parents the progress reports they ask for, by email and/or WhatsApp.
- Send service emails — verification, password reset, invites and important updates.
- Respond to demo and contact requests (we may call, email or WhatsApp you on the details you gave).
- Keep the Services safe: prevent abuse, enforce rate limits, investigate problems and comply with law.
- Understand aggregate usage to improve content and features.
- Measure how well our advertising works on our marketing website (see Cookies, local storage and advertising measurement above).
We do not sell personal data. We do not use data from the learning app — such as scores, progress or class information — for advertising, and we do not knowingly direct targeted advertising at children or track children for advertising.
4. AI features
SeekhoSmart uses AI models (provided by Anthropic) to write practice and test questions, explain answers, summarise topics and rate learning videos. For these features we send syllabus content (subject, chapter, topic) and, for explanations, the question and the answer chosen. We do not send your name, email, phone number or other contact details to the AI provider.
AI-generated content can contain mistakes. Teachers review questions before publishing tests; see our Terms of Service for more.
5. Who can see your information
Inside SeekhoSmart
| Who | Can see |
|---|---|
| A student’s teacher | For students in their classes: name, email, class-test answers and scores, practice scores by topic, and last-active time. |
| A student’s school | The same for students enrolled in the school, plus whether a parent is linked. Aggregated dashboards across classes and teachers. |
| A linked parent | Only children who shared their parent code with them: progress, scores, weak topics, streaks, exam pacing and recent activity. |
| Students | Their own data, and the names of linked parents and their teachers. |
A student can remove a parent’s access, or change their parent code, at any time from Classes → Parent access.
Service providers
We share data with trusted providers only as needed to run the Services, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Cloud hosting and databases — Amazon Web Services and Neon (application servers and database).
- Email delivery — Amazon Simple Email Service.
- WhatsApp messages — Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform (your number and the report or verification message).
- AI — Anthropic (syllabus and question text only, as described above).
- Sign-in — Google, if you choose Google Sign-In.
- Advertising measurement — Google Ads, on our marketing website only (not in the learning app).
- Website hosting — Vercel. Lesson videos are embedded from YouTube, which applies Google’s own privacy policy when you play them.
Legal and business reasons
We may disclose data if required by law or a lawful order, to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public, or as part of a merger or acquisition — in which case this policy will continue to apply to your data.
6. Children and parental consent
Many SeekhoSmart learners are under 18. Under the DPDP Act, we need verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian before processing a child’s personal data.
- If you are under 18, please ask your parent or guardian to read this policy and agree to it before you create an account.
- When a school enrols students, the school is responsible for obtaining parental consent in line with its own policies and our agreement.
- Parents can link to their child’s account to see their learning activity, and can contact us to review, correct or delete their child’s data.
- We only collect what is needed for learning. There is no advertising or ad tracking inside the learning app, and learning data is never used for ads. Our public marketing website uses Google Ads measurement, as described above; we don’t knowingly direct targeted ads at children.
If you believe a child’s data was collected without appropriate consent, write to support@seekhosmart.in and we will act promptly.
7. Emails and WhatsApp messages
- Service emails (verification, password reset, invites, security notices) are part of using the Services.
- Parent reports are opt-in. Email reports can be switched off any time; WhatsApp reports are sent only to a number you verify with a one-time code, and can be switched off or the number removed under Reports & alerts.
- Demo requests: we’ll only use the number you give us to follow up on your request.
8. How long we keep data
- Account and learning data — while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise it within 30 days, except where we must keep it longer by law.
- School-provided data — for the duration of our agreement with the school, then deleted or returned as agreed.
- Report delivery logs — up to 12 months.
- Demo/contact requests — up to 24 months after our last contact, unless you become a customer.
- Security logs — as long as needed for security and legal obligations, typically no more than 180 days.
9. How we protect data
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, signed and expiring sign-in tokens, role-based access checks on every request, one-time codes stored only in hashed form, rate limiting, and restricted administrative access. No system is perfectly secure; if a personal data breach occurs we will notify affected users and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
10. Your rights
Subject to the DPDP Act and other applicable law, you (or a parent for a child) can:
- Access a summary of your personal data and how it is processed.
- Correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data — much of it you can edit directly in your profile.
- Erase your data and close your account.
- Withdraw consent at any time (this doesn’t affect processing already done).
- Nominate someone to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity.
- Raise a grievance with us, and if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.
To use any of these rights, email support@seekhosmart.in from your account email. We may need to verify your identity, and will respond within 30 days.
11. Where data is stored
Our servers and providers are located in India and other countries (for example Singapore and the United States). Where data is processed outside India, we do so in line with the DPDP Act and any restrictions notified by the Government of India.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Services or the law change. We’ll post the new version here with a new “Last updated” date and, for significant changes, notify you by email or in the app.
