If you are in Class 10 or Class 12 on a state board, October is when the 2027 board exam time table starts landing. In the last two weeks, UP, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have all shared their dates, while CBSE, ICSE and several other boards are still to announce theirs.
This guide puts the dates announced so far in one place, explains what "tentative" really means, and gives you a simple plan for turning a date sheet into a study plan you can follow.

UP Board exam date 2027
The UP Board has the earliest start. According to Careers360's report on the UP date sheet, Class 10 and 12 papers run from 5 to 24 February 2027 in two shifts. Each shift is 3 hours 15 minutes, which includes 15 minutes of reading time. Day one is Hindi for both classes: Class 10 in the morning and Class 12 in the afternoon. That leaves UP students roughly 15 weeks from today, so the plan below matters most for you.
Maharashtra board exam date 2027
Maharashtra's dates are tentative. The big thing to notice is that practicals, orals and internal assessment run from late January into early February, before theory starts. If you leave lab files and journals for the end, they will clash with your revision.
Karnataka: two exams, and a chance to object
Karnataka has again planned two exams for both SSLC and 2nd PUC. CareerIndia reports that objections to the tentative SSLC timetable are accepted until 22 October 2026, and schools must register students for Exam 1 by 11 November 2026. Check with your school that your registration is done.
Still waiting: CBSE, ICSE and other boards
CBSE has not announced its 2027 date sheet yet, though it has released sample papers. Bihar, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Kerala are also still to announce, according to the same tracker. Some of these are expected in October or November. Until your board announces, plan on the assumption that exams start in February.
What "tentative" means for you
A tentative time table is a draft. Boards publish it, take objections and then release a final version. Dates usually stay the same, but a paper can move by a day or two. So:
- Download the date sheet only from your board's official website, not a WhatsApp forward.
- Save the PDF and note the date you downloaded it.
- Check again once a month, and again when your admit card comes.
How to turn the time table into a study plan

Step 1: Put every paper on one calendar
Write all your papers, including practicals, on one wall calendar or one page in your notebook. Next to each paper, write the number of days you get before it. These gaps decide your last-minute revision, so you need to see them clearly.
Step 2: Count backwards to fix your "syllabus finish" date
Take the date of your first paper and count back five to six weeks. That is the date by which every chapter should be done once. The weeks after that are only for revision and full papers. For UP students starting on 5 February, that means finishing the syllabus by about the last week of December.
Step 3: Split the remaining weeks by subject
List the chapters still left in each subject. Give more weeks to the subjects where you have the most chapters left or the lowest marks in your last test, not to your favourite subject. A simple rule: two study blocks a day on weak subjects, one on strong ones.

Step 4: Give tough subjects the long gaps
If you have a three-day gap before Maths and a one-day gap before English, you are lucky. Plan your revision so the subject that needs the most practice lands where the gap is longest. Write down what you will revise in each gap now, so you are not deciding in panic in March.
Step 5: Practise in the same shift as your exam
If your paper is from 8:30 am, do your mock papers at 8:30 am too. Your brain gets used to working at that time. Use previous-year papers from your own board, as the question style differs between boards.
Step 6: Keep one day a week for mistakes
Choose one day a week to go through every question you got wrong that week. Write the right method in a separate "mistakes notebook". This notebook becomes your best revision material in the last ten days.
Common mistakes to avoid this season
- Waiting for the "final" date sheet to start. Your syllabus does not change if a paper moves by a day.
- Ignoring practicals. In Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, practicals come weeks before theory, and those marks are the easiest to protect.
- Studying only from notes. Boards repeat question types. Previous-year papers show you how questions are framed.
- Copying a topper's time table. Use their ideas, but plan around your own weak chapters.
How SeekhoSmart helps with your board exam plan
Once you have your dates, the hard part is sticking to the plan every day. SeekhoSmart is built for exactly this stage. Its 10-year PYQ bank is tagged by chapter, so after you finish a chapter you can practise only the board questions from that chapter, instead of hunting through full papers. The adaptive daily study plan works backwards from your weak areas and gives you a fixed set of questions each day, so your "syllabus finish" date stays realistic. And when you get a question wrong, the AI explanation shows you where your method went off, which feeds straight into your mistakes notebook. It works in Hindi or English.
